• For many years I was unable to accept I was having hearing problems until I realized the negative impact it was having on me at home and at work. Years ago, while attending various work conferences and staff meetings with the telephone company, it was clear that I could learn more reading the minutes of the meeting than I could by attending the meeting. • When I retired in 1990 and started my own business, I soon realized my hearing problem was starting to affect customer relationships. I always had to have them repeat what they were saying, not just once, but several times and they would become frustrated with me. • I found I was excluding myself from conversations during family gatherings and social activities. I felt isolated because I couldn’t hear. • I’ve had hearing tests on many occasions during the past several years and it was clear that I needed help. I could never get comfortable with any offered solution. About a year ago, I read about Advanced Hearing Care. They have been established in Alamogordo, NM for several years and were expanding to Las Cruces. • I decided to tackle this hearing issue one more time and I consulted with Abbye Callender, Doctor of Audiology and the rest is history. I had no idea I would be walking out two hours later with digital hearing instruments fitted and programmed to restore my hearing loss. • Dr. Abbye Callender and her staff are professionals who make you feel welcome and comfortable at all times. I’ve been wearing my hearing aids for one year now! I wear them 10 to 14 hours per day and people don’t know I have them in. I sometimes forget I’m wearing them so when I take them out so it’s like turning the volume way down on a TV or radio. It’s so nice to correctly answer somebody’s question or just have a conversation.

• My name is Martha Layman and after visiting Dr. Abbye and Advanced Hearing Care, I am finally able to hear out of my left ear for the first time in YEARS! When I was 5 years old, I took a fall down a hillside and damaged my left ear and ended up with a significant hearing loss as a result.
